About Parachute Cord

Parachute Cords were first used during WWII as lines to secure parachutes. Paratroopers quickly discovered that the cord was a valuable tool for many uses such as securing equipment, rope for water rescues, tourniquets to stop bleeding from battle wounds and even shoe laces. The cord is still used by our military personnel for many of the same uses as during WWII, along with new applications developed by our Astronauts!

Outdoor enthusiasts, backpackers, trail bikers, campers, kayakers, etc., discovered that parachute cord was just as valuable to them in the challenges they faced in their adventures. They made bracelets, belts, lanyards, dog collars and leashes, and many other items that could be unbraided and unknotted to make a continuous length of rope in time of need. Parachute cord projects are not only easy and fun to make....... they are useful "tools" as you enter outdoor adventures.

Parachute Cord 325
Braided nylon parachute cord, with seven strands of nylon liner, can be used for all sorts of applications including crafts and jewelry making projects. The soft braided outer shell is durable yet cushioned, allowing this cord to be flexible so it is the perfect wrap for knife handles, spears, and survival gear, yet soft enough to wear as jewelry. Cord measures between 4.5mm - 5mm (about 3/16 inch) thickness. Do not use for climbing!
